Ben Strader of Columbus, MS, is what some would call a diehard GM guy. "It always amazes me how on a bad day, I can get into my Z28, open up the throttle, and the raw power and acceleration can put all my troubles behind me just like blowing by a Cobra." To power his '95 Z28, Ben installed a stout 8.8:1 383 LT1 with AFR 180cc CNC heads; a custom 244/254-duration, 0.570/0.570-inch lift, 114 LSA camshaft; and a ton of strong internals. Using a Lunati Sledgehammer crankshaft to spin a set of Oliver billet rods and a set of -20cc Diamond pistons, Ben built a tough short-block to take a ton of boost. A Procharger D-1SC is pullied for 15 psi, which helps this LT1 put down 614 rear-wheel horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque, enough power to spin all the way to a 11.2 at 129 mph, an impressive trap speed.

"I consider myself a fanatic when it comes to Camaros." For Ed Birch, that is not just an empty statement, as evidenced by his prior car list. The '99 seen here was preceded with a '75, '79, '89, and a '97 Camaro. Starting with a bone-stock '99 SS, Ed has added an MTI carbon-fiber lid complete with a K&N filter. A full SLP exhaust including SLP long-tube headers, Random Technologies high-flow cats, and an SLP Loudmouth makes a ton of noise and also helps Ed dyno right at 370 rwhp. Next up, Ed plans to add a 2010 Camaro to park alongside his current '99, which may be going in for a brake upgrade and some extra tuning by the folks over at SLP.
